Doug Goldman’s accomplishments span a variety of world class commercial, philanthropic and career interests.
As an entrepreneur, Doug’s early business and technology contributions to Certain Inc. started the company down the path to becoming the leading provider of solutions to the event and meeting industry. Today, Certain serves over 1,800 customers and 8 million attendees around the globe.
As the founder of Certain Inc., Doug’s entrepreneurial drive and spirit can be traced to his family history as a descendant of Levi Strauss, who invented the blue jean and spawned one of the world’s great brands. Doug’s experience as a technology industry entrepreneur are rooted in his role as the founder and chief architect of a computerized research center for Jewish genealogy at the Museum of the Diaspora in Tel-Aviv.
As a philanthropist, Doug has served on the boards of dozens of national, international and local organizations.
Doug currently serves on the board of the Goldman School of Public Policy and the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, the Harold Hartog School of Government and Policy at Tel-Aviv University, the Goldman Environmental Foundation, and the Goldman Prize Jury. He also serves as President of the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund which makes valuable contributions to a variety of fields including youth, civic affairs, civil and human rights, education, environment and social and Jewish affairs and human services. As Chairman of the Stern Grove Festival Association, the oldest annual free concert series in the United States Doug spearheaded a stunning, award-winning $15 million renovation of the Sigmund Stern Grove in San Francisco.
Doug also has an extensive background in medicine. Earlier in his career, Doug became a board-certified emergency physician and practiced at Mount Zion Hospital & Medical Center and Marshal Hale Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. He also served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Medical Services Agency for the City and County of San Francisco. As an expert in emergency medicine, EMS and pre-hospital care, Doug is the only emergency physician to have served on the San Francisco Fire Commission.
Doug received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and earned his M.D. from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University in Israel.
Peter Micciche serves as Certain’s President and CEO responsible for the Company’s vision, strategy, and global operations. He has extensive executive management and board level experience in public and private software companies, including roles as president of Cognos Corp. the leading business intelligence vendor (acquired by IBM); CEO of NativeMinds, Inc. (acquired by Verity and now Autonomy); and CEO of Kinecta Corp. (acquired by Stellent and now Oracle). In addition, Peter served as a director of Centura, Inc. a NASDAQ traded company.
In addition to his experience running technology companies, Peter also brings a wealth of experience from other senior executive roles. He served as senior vice president of sales, at Americas for Nuance Communications Inc., a $1 billion provider of speech recognition solutions, and was senior vice-president of sales for ChannelPoint Inc., a leading provider of solutions for the financial services and insurance industry. Peter was also vice president and general manager of ASK/INGRES, a $500M business software company where he was responsible for the North American applications, data base business as well as global customer service.
Peter was also an advisor to venture capital and private equity firms as well as chief executive of enterprise software and Web 2.0 companies, providing guidance on raising capital and strategy.
Peter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Boston College and an MBA degree from Suffolk University in Boston, MA.
Betsy Zikakis holds the position of Vice President of Marketing at Certain and is responsible for the company’s global marketing strategy and execution. With extensive marketing and product experience, Betsy has worked in several rapidly evolving technology markets including cloud computing, mobile applications, marketing automation, online advertising, and e-commerce.
Prior to Certain, Betsy built the marketing organizations at early stage, venture capital-backed cloud computing companies RightScale and SOASTA. She was also a senior marketing executive at Workscape as well as at Engage, where she and her teams helped drive brand awareness, revenue growth, an IPO, and multiple acquisitions.
Earlier in her career, Betsy oversaw engineering at Epsilon Data Management, an early innovator in data-driven marketing. She also served as an IT strategy consultant at Arthur D. Little and was a member of the software engineering staff at Hewlett Packard.
She holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.
Aleks Rabrenovich is responsible for Certain’s finance, accounting, human resources, and legal functions. He brings 25 years of private and public company finance experience to Certain, including venture capital backed and Fortune 500 organizations.
Prior to joining Certain, Aleks was Chief Financial Officer at Venturi Wireless, a venture-capital backed supplier of data network optimization solutions to mobile operators world-wide. During his 6 years at Venturi, Aleks raised $50 million of debt and equity capital; negotiated complex supply contracts with mobile operators such as Verizon Wireless, Reliance Communications, Tata Teleservices; and negotiated critical offshore outsourcing agreements with strategic suppliers. Before joining Venturi Wireless, Aleks served as Chief Financial Officer at NativeMinds, a privately-held natural language search company where he was instrumental in negotiating and completing the acquisition of NativeMinds by Verity, Inc. (now Autonomy). He also held various financial management positions at Corio, (acquired by IBM), Navigation Technologies (acquired by Nokia), The Ask Group (acquired by Computer Associates), and Compaq Computer in Munich, Germany (acquired by Hewlett-Packard).
Aleks holds an MBA from San Jose State University.
As Vice President of Human Resources for Certain, Inc., Valerie is responsible for supporting growth ambitions across Certain’s worldwide offices.
Valerie has over 20 years experience designing and delivering human resources programs to attract, develop, reward and retain the talent necessary to achieve business success. She has served as a human resources executive with highly regarded industry leaders including The Walt Disney Company, Apple Computer, BEA Systems and Siperian (acquired by Informatica) and has been a consultant, coach, and strategic advisor to clients in the entertainment, technology, and consumer products industries. Most recently Valerie served as the Principal Consultant at Nashira Coaching, a boutique consulting firm specializing in HR strategy and organizational effectiveness.
Valerie completed her undergraduate studies at West Virginia University and the executive management program at the University of Southern California along with being a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute.
Mark Jauregui is responsible for Certain’s service and support, and ongoing customer engagement. As Vice President of Service and Support, Mark will bring his extensive background managing global professional service organizations for both start-ups and industry leading companies to expand the growing adoption of Certain’s enterprise event management solutions.
Mark joins Certain from Eloqua, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oracle, where he most recently focused on driving implementation and on-boarding of enterprise accounts. He has an extensive knowledge and experience in sales and client engagement, as well as scaling professional service organizations.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Boise State University.
David Burton is Vice President of Product Development and Cloud Operations where he is responsible for product and SaaS infrastructure operations. He has over 25 years working with technology companies in a variety of roles.
Prior to joining Certain, David spent 8 years at Oracle Corp where he was a Senior Director for Oracle Applications Labs. At Oracle, David was responsible for all Marketing and Engineering systems used internally, including marketing automation, event management and PLM systems. David led high profile integrations such as the 2013 Eloqua marketing automation system implementation for Oracle corporate marketing and the 2009-2011 Agile PLM system implementation as part of the Sun Microsystems Integration.
Earlier in his career, David held management positions at several software companies, leading teams at Rand Worldwide, Ballard Power Systems, Kodak and others. From 2002-2005, he also started and ran his own consulting business.
David is a PMP certified Project Manager, has managed enterprise projects for Apple, HP, Brocade, Kodak, SanDisk, Kyocera, Illumina and others and has served on the Board of Directors of a technology incubator company in Calgary, Canada.
