Anthony Wong, proprietor of Asian Overland Services (AOS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has long been the “face” of the Malaysian conference industry, and a familiar figure at industry events and forums around the world. In 1990, Anthony established AOS Convention & Events, a destination management, conference and exhibition company, meeting client demand for MICE activities in Malaysia. To date, AOS has successfully managed groups from 20 to 6000 people. For three consecutive years from 1998 to 2000, AOS was voted as the Best Destination Management Company by MICE in the Asia Pacific region.
His conference and destination management services business, AOS Convention & Events, has been operating since 1990, managing events with guestlists ranging from 50 to 15,000 delegates. The company´s client list includes Renault (France), Orange (United Kingdom), Oracle (Poland), Honda (Switzerland), Audi (South Africa), LG (Egypt), Samsung Electronic (UAE), Kodak (Middle East), Glaxo Smithkline (Philippines), and Hewlett Packard (India).

“We have used Certain Events since 1998, and, being a Professional Conference Organizer, we always want to be competitive and invest in the best software.”

Q: What are some of the more significant events for which you have used eventsPro and eventsInteractive?
“The 7th World Leisure Congress, the Malaysia Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Kuala Lumpur Grand Prix International Horse Show, and we´re using it for FIGO 2006, the World Congress for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Kuala Lumpur, for which some 8,000 to 10,000 delegates are expected to attend.’

Results
Malaysia´s annual hosting of the Formula One Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious sporting events of the year. In Anthony Wong´s view, Malaysia is the “perfect conference and incentive travel package” for international travellers: “It has a colonial history, the people speak English, and the laws are based on English laws. There are many foreign companies operating here, roads are good, hotels are the best value for money in the world today, there are plenty of rooms available, and plenty of flights through Malaysia Airways (MAS).”
For the Formula One Grand Prix, AOS Convention & Events Services sold tickets, provided hotel accommodation packages, and handled shuttle transfers and other special arrangements for corporate groups.
