Individual Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available for individuals to attend the program. Scholarships are limited to individuals who work in:
 
·        Victim Assistance – direct service practitioner/administrator from a community-based or system-based organization
·        Disability Services – direct service practitioner/administrator from an organization that provides direct and/or advocacy services to individuals with disabilities
·        Criminal Justice – officer/administrator from a law enforcement or prosecution agency
 
Recipients are expected to fully participate in the conference, including the development of an individual action plan and reporting on progress after the conference.
 
Scholarship Amounts
Scholarships of up to $1,000 are available as reimbursable funds for conference registration, travel, lodging, and food. Additional funds may be available for accessibility expenses, such as for attendant care/personal assistant. While not everyone will incur the same expenses, items and some estimated costs include:
·        Registration: $325
·        Lodging: $171.13 per night x 3 nights
·        Food: $171.50 (based on per diem rate for 2 part days and 2 full days)
·        Travel
 
 
Application Process
Applications will include:
·        Rationale
Why do you want to attend the conference? What are your ideas as to how you may be able to transfer content to practice in order to effect change in your practice, organizational policy, or your community?
   
·        Budget
Detail the anticipated allowable expenses. Applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate fiscal responsibility when preparing the budget. Also, show financial support from other funding sources, including your organization, for conference attendance.  
 
·        Administrative Commitment
Provide letter from the organization’s administrative director, such as chief executive officer, sheriff, or district attorney, committing your attention to these issues.
 
Scholarship applications must be submitted by September 1, 2009. The Scholarship Review Committee will review applications and take one of the following actions:
·        Accept
·        Conditional Acceptance
Award of scholarship pending modification of application and/or requirement of additional information or action
·        Reject 
 
Reimbursement
Expenses must be documented on an expense report form that will be sent to you. Actual receipts for these items must be submitted with the form. Failure to provide actual receipts will result in denial of reimbursement.
