JIMMY PICKERING
Accepted to the California Institute of the Arts, School of Film and Video at the age of seventeen, he studied character animation, production design, art direction and most importantly, the art of storytelling. For the first time in his life he was surrounded by other artists and finally found his niche.
Upon graduation, he began an interesting career working for such companies as Walt Disney Imagineering, Hallmark Cards Inc. and Universal Studios to name a few.
After using his talents to create stories though attractions, environments and images, it seemed a natural step for him to venture out and start telling stories of his own. He left the corporate world and began telling these stories through his art, first in gallery shows and then in the world of publishing through illustration and writing.
Through everything he’s experienced, his focus remains the same. “Maybe it's my background in animation or theme park design, yet everything I do comes down to storytelling. It may be found in a painting, a drawing, in the form of words or a combination of them all, but storytelling is always at the core of what I am compelled to create.”
