2018 has been a significant year of growth and change for Certain. As we approach our one-year anniversary of acquiring Gather Digital (now Certain Touchpoint), we reflect on the remarkable success and evolution that has come following that merger. In addition to the release of a new and improved product suite, we celebrate the addition of “Certain East”, the Chapel Hill branch of Certain that now makes up our east coast contingent, along with the San Francisco office now representing “Certain West”.
As the company grows, so too does our leadership. Joining Certain’s executive team in 2018 are Jon and Wendy Phillips, co-founders of Gather Digital, as well as Bill Hu, who stepped into the role of vice president of sales in September.
Our Expanding Leadership Team
As Certain’s vice president of corporate sales, Wendy Phillips brings with her an extensive background in enterprise and event technology. Formerly the VP of sales and marketing at Gather Digital, Wendy now leads the corporate sales team, working closely with prospects and customers help them streamline event production, engage with participants in a personalized way, and get real time, key data about their interests.
“Over the past year, it’s been so rewarding to see how customers are able to take advantage of the integrated solutions offered by using the Certain Meet and Platform products in combination with the Touchpoint app.” says Wendy. “The seamless flow of event information among the products, and the great data that our customers can capture in realtime to better understand their participants’ interests is very exciting. It’s so rewarding to see that in action for Certain customers, making it easier for them to host events and gain real business benefit from them.”
Like Wendy, Jon Phillips comes from an entrepreneurial background, having co-founded Gather Digital with her back in 2009. In his current role as vice president of product management, Jon will shape the Certain product vision and drive the product development roadmap, with a continuing focus on event data and a renewed commitment to ease of use.

Vice President of Sales Bill Hu joins Certain from Layer––a provider of messaging software for apps––where as the vice president of sales, he led go-to-market sales strategies and tripled revenue growth in just one year. As a first step in moving Certain’s sales strategy forward, Bill plans to expand the sales team and welcome additional enterprise representatives to build the organization to scale.

Having supported more than 2.7 million attendees at over 34,000 events in 2018, the Certain team is going into 2019 with a great year of momentum behind us. We hope that your 2018 was equally full of success, growth and inspiration, and are excited to see what 2019 brings for us all.
